Our Assessment Process:

Substrate evaluation – checking if the underlayment is solid, level, and appropriate for the tile type you want, because perfect tile on a bad substrate fails every time
Moisture testing – especially critical in bathrooms and kitchens where water exposure is constant, we need to know what we’re working with
Load-bearing analysis – heavy stone tile requires different substrate support than lightweight ceramic, and we calculate this before we start
Layout planning – figuring out pattern direction, where cuts will fall, how to handle transitions, because bad planning shows up in the finished work
Material compatibility check – making sure your chosen tile works with the adhesive, grout, and sealant needed for the application
Existing condition assessment – if we’re working over old tile or replacing sections, understanding what’s underneath and what needs remediation

Here’s what we’re really checking for during assessment. Is the floor deflecting when you walk on it? That means the joists below aren’t adequately supported for tile. Are there moisture issues we need to address first? Tiling over active moisture problems just traps them and makes everything worse. Is the existing surface suitable for tile or do we need to add cement board or other underlayment?
