Liberty is the Liberty County seat, on the Trinity River along US 90, roughly 45 miles northeast of Houston. It is one of the older towns in Texas, with a historic downtown, county offices and farm and ranch land all around. Ames sits on its east side, and Dayton is across the river to the west.
