Custom Cabinets and Remodeling in Montgomery County

Custom cabinets, vanities, built-ins, trim and remodels for homeowners in 18 Montgomery County communities.

Montgomery County stretches north from Spring Creek through The Woodlands, Conroe and Lake Conroe, and east along US 59 toward Porter and Splendora. Ace Kustoms builds custom cabinets, trim and built-ins for homes throughout the county. We make everything in our Houston shop and send our own installers up I-45 or US 59 to fit it, so there is no handoff to a subcontracted crew between the shop and your kitchen.

Homes here range from wooded lots in The Woodlands to lake houses around Lake Conroe and acreage in Magnolia, Montgomery and Cut and Shoot. Common projects include replacing dated 1980s and 1990s kitchens, adding built-ins and paneled walls in two-story family rooms, building outdoor kitchen cabinetry for covered patios, and outfitting garages and shops on larger properties. Many homeowners also ask us to remove soffits and run new uppers to the ceiling.

The way we work does not change with the zip code. We meet you at your home to measure, check walls and ceilings, and talk through the design and budget. You choose from real wood and finish samples, not a catalog page. We build from hardwoods and furniture-grade plywood in our own shop, install with the same crew, and finish with a walkthrough. Our craftsmanship warranty covers joinery and finish, so you know who to call if anything needs attention later.

Homes in Montgomery County

Montgomery County housing is mostly slab-on-grade construction from the 1970s onward, much of it under tall pines. The Woodlands has a deep stock of 1980s and 1990s homes with oak cabinets, soffits over the uppers and builder trim, many now due for a kitchen update. Newer subdivisions around Conroe, Magnolia and the Grand Parkway have open plans and tall ceilings. Lake Conroe has a mix of weekend houses and full-time waterfront homes, and the county's rural edges include houses on acreage with large garages and workshops. Removing soffits, extending uppers to the ceiling and adding mudroom storage are frequent requests.

Climate and materials

Shade from the pines keeps some homes cooler but can trap moisture, and humidity remains a factor year-round. We build boxes from plywood and choose stable door constructions. For lake homes, we plan finishes for damp air and for rooms where doors are opened often. Garage and outdoor cabinets get materials and finishes meant for heat swings, and for homes near the San Jacinto River or Spring Creek we can discuss raised bases.

Montgomery County FAQs

Do you travel to Conroe, Willis and Lake Conroe?
Yes. We serve all of Montgomery County, including The Woodlands, Spring, Conroe, Willis, Montgomery, Magnolia, Porter, Splendora and the communities around Lake Conroe. Cabinets are built in our Houston shop and installed by our own crew. We schedule site visits and installs during weekday hours.
Can you remove the soffits above my kitchen cabinets?
Often, yes. Many 1980s and 1990s homes in The Woodlands and Conroe have soffits that hold nothing, while others hide ductwork, plumbing vents or wiring. We check during the in-home visit. If the soffit is empty, removing it lets us run cabinets to the ceiling. If it hides mechanicals, we can design around it or plan rerouting as part of a remodel.
Do you build outdoor kitchen cabinets for patios in Montgomery County?
Yes. Covered patios and outdoor kitchens are a common request in The Woodlands, Magnolia and around Lake Conroe. Outdoor cabinets need different materials and finishes than indoor ones because of heat, humidity, pollen and rain. We talk through exposure, appliance cutouts and countertop options during the consultation.
What styles work well in wooded Montgomery County homes?
Natural wood tones such as white oak, walnut and rift-sawn oak are popular because they suit the setting, and painted shaker doors remain a steady choice. Many homeowners combine a stained island with painted perimeter cabinets. We bring real samples to your house so you can see how each option looks in your light.
Can you add built-ins to a two-story family room?
Yes. Two-story family rooms are common in this county, and tall walls can feel empty. We often build a fireplace surround with flanking cabinets and shelves, scaled to the room height, sometimes with a rolling ladder or upper display sections. Proportions matter, so we draw it out before building.
How do you price projects in Montgomery County?
Pricing depends on size, materials, finish and site conditions, not on location within the county. As a planning range, built-ins often start in the low thousands and full custom kitchens commonly run from about $20,000 to $60,000 or more. We provide a written estimate after measuring.
