New countertops can change how a Jersey Village kitchen looks and works, but only if the cabinets underneath are ready. We plan countertops and cabinetry together for homeowners across Harris County.
Jersey Village is a small city in northwest Harris County, just inside Beltway 8 along US 290. It is known for its established neighborhoods, its golf course and White Oak Bayou running through town. It is surrounded by Houston and close to the Cypress area farther northwest.
Most homes in Jersey Village date from the 1960s through the 1980s, typically single-story or modest two-story houses on slab. Kitchens often still have original layouts with soffits and short uppers. Some streets near the bayou have dealt with flooding, so homeowners frequently ask about raised bases and moisture-tolerant materials when replacing kitchens and laundry rooms.
Newer homes in Jersey Village often came with builder-grade granite or laminate in colors that now look dated. Homeowners commonly replace the counters with quartz in a lighter or more current pattern, sometimes extending the island or adding a waterfall end. We confirm the existing cabinets can support the new material and add steel supports where seating overhangs are increased. Many owners do this before anything else.
Every project starts with an in-home measurement in Jersey Village. We build in our Houston shop and the same crew handles installation, so the person you talk to at the estimate is accountable for the result. Learn more about our full countertops & surface work service.
We level and shim base cabinets to within a sixteenth of an inch across the run, add solid blocking at seams and sink bases, and install steel supports for overhangs. A flat, rigid base is the best protection against cracked stone.
Slab sizes limit how long a single piece can be, so we plan seam locations during design, keeping them away from sinks and cooktops and where they will be least visible, rather than letting a fabricator decide on the day of templating.
We explain the real-world differences between quartz, granite, marble, solid surface and wood, including heat resistance, staining, etching and maintenance, so you choose a surface that suits how you actually cook and clean.
Templating happens as soon as cabinets are set and secured, so there is no gap waiting for someone else's crew. We coordinate sink, faucet and cooktop models in advance so cutouts are right the first time.

Houston slab foundations can shift slightly with the expansive clay soils common in the region, which is one more reason we set cabinets carefully level and add solid support at seams. Stone does not tolerate flex, so a rigid base matters. Humidity affects wood tops more than stone, so butcher block near sinks needs a well-maintained finish on all sides, including the underside. Outdoor kitchens and covered patios face heat, UV and moisture, and some quartz products are not rated for outdoor use, so we recommend granite or other suitable materials there. Older homes often have walls that bow, so we template carefully and use backsplashes to cover small gaps.
Houston humidity is the main thing we design around. Solid wood moves with the seasons, so we use furniture-grade plywood for cabinet boxes and shelves, and frame-and-panel doors that let panels float. Sink bases get extra finish protection, and in neighborhoods along bayous or in flood-prone zones we can raise toe kicks or use moisture-resistant materials on the lowest components. Keeping the house conditioned during installation helps everything settle in properly.
As a general planning range, installed countertops in Greater Houston often run about $50 to $120 per square foot for quartz and granite, $40 to $90 for solid surface, and $100 to $200 or more for premium marble and quartzite. A typical kitchen may need 40 to 60 square feet. Pricing varies with materials and site conditions, so get a written estimate.
