Tired of cables and consoles cluttering the family room in your Humble home? Ace Kustoms builds custom entertainment centers throughout Harris County from our Houston shop.
Humble is northeast of Houston along US 59, near Bush Intercontinental Airport and Lake Houston. The original town grew around an early oil field, and the surrounding area now includes large planned communities such as Atascocita and Kingwood. The San Jacinto River and its creeks run nearby.
The old part of Humble has modest older homes, while the surrounding area is dominated by suburban subdivisions from the 1970s to today. Many homes have builder cabinets due for replacement, and some neighborhoods near the river have flood history. Kitchen upgrades, game room media walls and raised-base laundry and garage cabinets are common requests.
Families in Humble often have game consoles, controllers, streaming devices and piles of board games competing for space. A custom entertainment center gives each a place, with drawers for controllers, ventilated cabinets for consoles and closed storage for games and blankets. Doors keep things tidy when guests arrive, and adjustable shelves adapt as kids grow and their interests and devices change.
Every project starts with an in-home measurement in Humble. We build in our Houston shop and the same crew handles installation, so the person you talk to at the estimate is accountable for the result. Learn more about our full custom entertainment centers service.
Receivers, consoles and streaming boxes need airflow. We use perforated or slatted back panels, cut vents in shelves, and can add quiet thermostatically controlled fans so electronics stay cool behind closed doors.
IR remotes need line of sight, so equipment doors can use speaker cloth, cane, perforated metal or glass panels that let signals through. Alternatively, we plan for an IR repeater or RF remote system.
We design the TV opening with a few inches of clearance around the current screen and room to upgrade to a slightly larger one later. Overall proportions are balanced against the room, windows and ceiling height.
Plywood cases with solid hardwood faces handle the weight of heavy receivers and subwoofers. Long shelves are reinforced with hardwood edges or steel to prevent sag, and the unit is fastened to studs for safety.

Electronics in closed cabinets can overheat quickly, and that risk goes up in Houston homes where the AC works hard in summer and rooms near west-facing windows heat up in the afternoon. We plan ventilation paths and can add quiet fans. Many local homes have the TV wall on an exterior wall, so we check insulation and leave an air gap behind the cabinetry to avoid condensation. Slab floors in older homes are rarely level across a 12 to 16-foot wall, so we shim and scribe to keep long shelves and doors aligned. Power surges from summer storms are common, so we recommend planning space and access for a quality surge protector inside the cabinet.
Houston humidity is the main thing we design around. Solid wood moves with the seasons, so we use furniture-grade plywood for cabinet boxes and shelves, and frame-and-panel doors that let panels float. Sink bases get extra finish protection, and in neighborhoods along bayous or in flood-prone zones we can raise toe kicks or use moisture-resistant materials on the lowest components. Keeping the house conditioned during installation helps everything settle in properly.
As a general planning range, a custom floating media console in Greater Houston often runs about $2,500 to $6,000, while a full built-in entertainment center or media wall commonly falls between $8,000 and $25,000 depending on size and detail. Every room is different, so treat these as rough numbers and get a written estimate.
