Harris County · Cabinetry & Built-Ins
If your Houston home has a bonus room or game room that could be a media room, the right cabinetry makes a big difference. We serve all of Harris County.
Houston is where our shop is, in the 77009 zip code just north of downtown. The city covers an enormous range of neighborhoods, from prewar streets inside the 610 Loop to postwar suburbs and newer infill along the freeways. Our crew works across all of it, so most Houston projects are a short drive from the bench where the cabinets are built.
Houston housing runs from 1920s bungalows and 1950s ranch homes to modern townhomes stacked three stories high. Older houses usually need cabinets scribed to out-of-square walls and trim matched to existing profiles. Townhomes bring narrow kitchens, tall ceilings and stairs, which favor slim storage, full-height uppers and careful planning for delivery up tight stairwells.
Families in Houston use media rooms for movies, video games, sports and sleepovers. Cabinetry with drawers for controllers and games, shelves for blankets and pillows and a beverage fridge keeps everything close at hand. Durable finishes and sturdy hardware stand up to heavy use by kids and teens, and closed storage keeps the room tidy. Cleanup after movie night takes minutes, and every controller has a drawer.
Every project starts with an in-home measurement in Houston. We build in our Houston shop and the same crew handles installation, so the person you talk to at the estimate is accountable for the result. Learn more about our full custom media room cabinetry service.
Openings for in-cabinet speakers are sized to the speaker, with acoustically transparent fabric panels in front. Solid wood stays out of the sound path, so dialogue and bass are not muffled by the cabinetry.
Dark, matte stains and paints around the screen reduce reflections that wash out the picture. Glossy finishes and glass doors are kept away from the front wall, where they would bounce light back at viewers.
Conduit, grommets and chases are built in so cables run behind the woodwork. IR repeaters, RF remotes or glass-front racks keep equipment controllable even behind closed cabinet doors. Spare conduit allows future upgrades.
Drawers for controllers, headsets and cables, shelves for games and discs, and cabinets for blankets and pillows keep the room clean and ready to use without trips to other rooms.

Media rooms in Houston are often upstairs or over garages, where heat builds quickly in summer and AC struggles to keep up. Add equipment heat, and closed cabinets can get very warm. We design ventilation carefully and recommend confirming that the room has adequate HVAC capacity. Exterior walls in these rooms see temperature swings, so we leave air gaps and seal cabinet backs. On slab foundations, running power or conduit to floor locations is difficult, so we plan wiring through walls and risers. Dark finishes show dust, and humidity can affect fabric panels, so we choose durable materials.
Houston humidity is the main thing we design around. Solid wood moves with the seasons, so we use furniture-grade plywood for cabinet boxes and shelves, and frame-and-panel doors that let panels float. Sink bases get extra finish protection, and in neighborhoods along bayous or in flood-prone zones we can raise toe kicks or use moisture-resistant materials on the lowest components. Keeping the house conditioned during installation helps everything settle in properly.
For general planning, a media room front wall with speaker bays and storage in Greater Houston often runs around $10,000 to $22,000, while full rooms with equipment racks, riser storage and a snack counter can range from $25,000 to $50,000 or more, not counting AV equipment. These are planning ranges, so ask for a written estimate after we review your plans.
